Kiosk Types We Install

We install the full range of self-service hardware: quick-service restaurant ordering kiosks, retail self-checkout lanes, patient and visitor check-in kiosks, wayfinding and directory displays, ticketing and transit kiosks, badge and visitor management stations, price checkers, order pickup lockers and vending-adjacent smart units.

Each type carries its own physical demands. Self-checkout lanes involve scales that must be level and calibrated, bagging areas, security cameras and weight-based verification. Check-in kiosks in healthcare need card readers and printers plus a wipe-down-friendly install. Outdoor and drive-thru units need weather sealing, temperature considerations and conduit that will not become a water path into the enclosure.

Site Preparation and Coordination

Site prep is where kiosk projects are won or lost. Before install day we confirm the exact placement dimension from a fixed building reference, verify that power and data stub-ups land inside the unit's cable entry footprint, check floor conditions for anchoring, and identify anything overhead — sprinklers, lighting, soffits — that conflicts with the unit height or a canopy.

We coordinate with the electrician on the power circuit and receptacle location, and we handle the low-voltage side ourselves: running and certifying the data drop back to the IDF, providing PoE where the design uses it, and terminating so the cable enters the enclosure through the intended path rather than being fished under a base plate on install night. Where placement is still open, we flag conflicts on the drawing rather than at 2 a.m. with a pallet on the sales floor.

Assembly, Mounting and Anchoring

We uncrate, assemble and set units to the manufacturer's installation instructions, then secure them properly. Freestanding kiosks are typically anchored to the slab with the fastener type and count the manufacturer specifies; counter-mounted units are through-bolted or bracket-mounted; wall-mounted units are attached to structure or blocking, never to drywall alone.

Anchoring is not optional on a customer-facing device. A kiosk that people lean on, push carts into and lean children against has to be secured against tipping, and the fastener pattern has to hit sound concrete rather than a slab edge or a conduit run. In high-traffic and drive-lane areas we install bollards or protective barriers when they are part of the scope, and we level and shim units so doors and drawers operate correctly.

Network Integration

Wired connectivity is the default recommendation for any kiosk that takes payment or drives revenue. We run and certify a dedicated Cat6 or Cat6A drop per unit back to the IDF, terminate to a patch panel, and land it on a managed switch with the segmentation your IT team specifies, so payment and self-service devices are not sharing a broadcast domain with guest Wi-Fi.

Where a wired drop is genuinely impossible — a mid-floor unit on a polished slab in a leased space, a temporary seasonal placement — we coordinate a wireless plan with proper access point coverage and a documented fallback. Our structured cabling and network and Wi-Fi teams handle that infrastructure as part of the same project, which avoids the classic split where one vendor installs the kiosk and another is blamed for the connection.

Placement, Accessibility and Traffic Flow

Kiosks are installed to your compliance specification, and accessibility drives placement more than most owners expect. The 2010 ADA Standards define reach ranges — generally a maximum 48-inch high and 15-inch low unobstructed reach — along with clear floor space requirements of about 30 by 48 inches and knee and toe clearance where a forward approach is required.

We install to the placement and mounting heights your architect, vendor or compliance team specifies, and we raise the flag before anchoring when a proposed location will not work in practice: a queue that blocks the accessible route, a unit that cannot be approached from the required side, a screen height that conflicts with the design intent once the unit is on its actual pedestal. Correcting that before the anchors go in costs nothing; correcting it afterward means patching a slab.

Burn-In and Testing Before Handover

Every kiosk gets exercised before we leave. That means powering up and confirming the unit boots to the intended application, running test transactions through the payment device where the processor allows, printing receipts and tickets, testing scanners, cameras, scales and card readers, verifying the network path and the correct VLAN, and confirming the unit reports into your management platform.

For self-checkout lanes we also confirm scale operation and any required calibration coordination, security camera views, light pole indicators and attendant station function. Units are then left clean, with packaging removed from the site, protective film pulled, and a short walkthrough for the store or facility manager covering power, network location and who to call.

Multi-Site Rollout Programs

Kiosk deployments are rarely one location. We run them as programs: a pilot installation to validate the build book, then per-market waves with local crews, a standard site kit, per-site completion reporting with photos, and a single project manager who owns the schedule. Freight coordination is part of it — knowing when pallets land, where they are stored, and who signs for them prevents the most common rollout failure, which is a crew on site and hardware in a warehouse two states away.

Because each site is executed to the same build book, deployment quality does not drift between site 3 and site 90, and your support organization gets one consistent physical standard to troubleshoot against.

What Drives Kiosk Installation Pricing

Per-site pricing is driven by unit count and weight, whether anchoring requires slab work, how much new power and data infrastructure is needed, whether bollards or millwork modifications are in scope, after-hours or overnight scheduling, and freight and staging logistics.

The biggest swing factor is site readiness. A site where power and data are stubbed up in the right place installs in a fraction of the time of one where a drop has to be run 180 feet through a hard-lid ceiling on install night. That is why we push for a survey or a detailed site-readiness checklist before the wave is scheduled. We quote per site against a defined kit, with allowances for outliers.
