What We Install

A typical telematics install covers five hardware categories: vehicle gateways and GPS tracking units (OBD-II plug-in or hardwired), AI-enabled dash cams (road-facing, dual-facing and add-on side cameras), ELDs for hours-of-service compliance, battery or solar asset trackers for trailers and unpowered equipment, and auxiliary sensors such as door, temperature, PTO, tank and reefer inputs.

We also handle the work around the device. That includes wiring in auxiliary inputs so a dashboard can distinguish "engine idling" from "PTO running," running camera cable behind trim so drivers cannot casually unplug it, adding secondary fusing where a manufacturer harness does not provide it, and removing or returning decommissioned hardware when you switch platforms or retire a unit.

Platforms We Install

We install hardware from every major telematics platform, including Samsara, Geotab, Motive and Verizon Connect, plus smaller and regional providers and OEM-embedded systems. We do not sell subscriptions, licenses or marked-up hardware for those platforms and we hold no vendor affiliation — our role is the physical installation, the wiring quality and the verification that the unit reports correctly in the system you already pay for.

That independence matters on mixed fleets. Many companies inherit two or three platforms through acquisitions, or run one system for trucks and another for trailers and yellow iron. One installation vendor across all of them means one point of contact, one standard of workmanship and one schedule, rather than four separate vendor rollouts fighting for the same trucks.

Vehicle Classes We Work On

Our technicians install across the full commercial range: light-duty vans and pickups, Class 3 through Class 6 box trucks and service vehicles, Class 7 and Class 8 tractors, dry vans, reefers and flatbed trailers, and off-road equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, generators and light towers.

Each class has its own wiring reality. Light-duty vehicles usually accept an OBD-II connection or a simple fused tap at the interior panel. Class 8 tractors typically use a J1939 nine-pin connection or a hardwired harness landed at the fuse block, with cameras routed along the A-pillar. Trailers and yellow iron rarely have usable constant power, so they get battery or solar asset trackers mounted where the unit gets sky view and survives a wash bay, a loading dock strike and a winter in Minnesota.

Nationwide Rollouts With One Installation Vendor

For multi-terminal fleets we run installation programs rather than one-off appointments: a single project manager, a per-terminal wave schedule, a consistent install standard and one reporting stream showing which VINs are done and which are still outstanding. This is the difference between a rollout that finishes in six weeks and one that stalls at 70 percent because nobody chased the last trucks in the last three yards.

We staff waves from local crews in each market, so a 40-terminal rollout does not depend on one team driving across the country. Terminals are sequenced around your operations — highest vehicle counts first when you want data fast, or lowest-impact yards first when you want to prove out the process before touching revenue-critical equipment.

How a Yard Install Day Runs

A standard yard day starts with a staging check: we confirm the device list against your VIN roster, verify serial numbers, and set up a work area with the harnesses, fuses, loom, mounts and tools for that vehicle mix. Vehicles are then worked in a queue your yard manager controls, so dispatch always knows which unit is on the lift and which is next.

Per-vehicle install time typically runs 45 to 90 minutes: roughly 30 to 45 minutes for a straightforward gateway plus road-facing camera on a light-duty vehicle, and 60 to 90 minutes for a Class 8 tractor with a dual-facing camera, auxiliary inputs and concealed cable routing. Asset trackers on trailers usually take 20 to 40 minutes each. A two-technician crew commonly completes 8 to 14 vehicles in a day depending on the mix.

Keeping Downtime Off Your Dispatch Board

The cheapest install is the one that never takes a truck out of service during a revenue hour. We schedule around your operation: overnight and weekend shifts, early-morning waves before drivers pull out, batch installs during mandated break windows, and rolling schedules that take five or ten units a day instead of parking the yard.

For fleets that never sit still, we work where the vehicles actually are — cross-dock facilities, customer sites, service centers, or a driver's home terminal during a reset. Every vehicle is returned with the cab clean, the seat and mirrors as we found them, and no leftover packaging or trim clips on the floor.

Wiring Quality, Testing and Sign-Off

Every connection we make is fused, loomed and secured. We use proper fused taps or landed connections at the fuse block instead of splice-and-tape, protect runs with loom or split tubing where they cross metal edges, secure harnesses away from pedals, steering shafts and airbag deployment paths, and leave a service loop so the next technician is not cutting a harness to remove a device.

Nothing is called complete until it reports. Before a vehicle leaves the queue we confirm the device powers up, acquires GPS, and appears online in your platform with the correct VIN or asset name; we verify camera framing on the actual seated driver sight line; and we generate a test event — a drive, a hard-brake trigger or an input toggle — to prove data flows end to end. You get a per-vehicle completion record listing VIN, device serial, install date and technician.

What Drives Installation Pricing

Telematics installation is priced per vehicle, and the rate is driven by four factors: device complexity (a plug-in tracker versus a hardwired gateway with a dual-facing camera and three auxiliary inputs), vehicle class and cab access, volume at a single location, and travel to remote yards.

Volume is the biggest lever. Twenty vehicles staged at one terminal cost meaningfully less per unit than five vehicles at four scattered sites, because mobilization is the fixed cost. Multi-site programs are quoted as a program with a blended per-vehicle rate and a defined wave schedule, so your finance team sees one predictable number instead of a hundred service invoices.
